












Q: Where can I get a wetsuit?
A: Speedy Reedy is one of our sponsors they will give a great deal on wetsuit rentals.
Q: Do I have to wear a wetsuit?
A: Yes! Wetsuits are required by the Des Moines Fire Department and the US Coast Guard.
Q: What time does the swim start?
A: The swim starts at 9:30am but you need to be checked in before 8:30, registration opens at 7:30am.
Q: How will my stuff get to the other side? 
A: At check in you will be asked if you need anything transported. At 8:45 a boat will take everyone’s items to the finish line, there you can pick up your items.
Q: Can someone meet me on the other side?
A: Yes, but they will have to drive over unless they have a boat. Ferry times are listed as well as directions on the website. Due to travel times they will not be able to see you start and finish they must pick one.
Q: Will transportation be provided back?
A: We will not have group transportation this year due to lack of funds. We can however help you get back to Des Moines if you do not have a ride. Please contact justin@brmsos.com prior to the day of the event if you need a ride back.
Q: How long will the race take?
A: The event is set to run from 7:30am until 12:00pm this includes registration, the swim, and food after the race.
Q: Is the food free for everyone?
A: Yes food is free for all athletes, volunteers and spectators.
Q: How cold is the water?
A: 50-55 degrees year round, only the top 5 feet changes temperature.

Q: Is there "day of race" registration
A: No you must be registered by 12:00am Aug 5th.
