The 7th Annual Brent Rice Memorial Swim will take place on Saturday August 25, 2011 with the first group leaving the Des Moines beach park at TBD. The swim is 2.3 miles long in 50 degree water. The swimmers will be divided in four groups based on skill & speed, leaving 5 minutes apart. Once all groups have finished the swim there will be food provided as well as an award ceremony.
The swim will be supervised by volunteer boaters, kayaks, lifeguards, South King Fire & Rescue, Browns Point Fire Department, Normandy Park & Burien Department and the US Coast Guard.
The swimmers will leave the Des Moines Beach Park and swim to Point Robinson on Maury Island
1) All swimmers must be able to complete a 1600 yard swim under 35 minutes in a pool and under
45 minutes in an open water setting.
2) All swimmers must wear a wetsuit during the swim.
3) Swimmers must be registered by August 15, 2012.
